My “about” page has been in desperate need of some flare for months now. After pondering what to do and how to express myself and what my company is about I approached my friend Emily Hoskins of Liberty Tree Photography to help me out! Em and I met many evenings, after our babes had gone to dream land, and we dreamt up a photo shoot that would represent who I am but more importantly what inspires me.
We contacted Jennifer Ault, a local Hair Stylist & Colorist, to make my hair as pretty as can be, and she jumped right on board. She was an amazing help, not just in the hair department, but throughout the entire shoot. Such a pro.
That is all I will say for now. More to come on this exciting photo shoot and amazing shots that Em captured!
Have I got a connection for you! Are you a student? Do you love learning, but struggle with essay writing? Do you have a wealth of knowledge begging to get out, but don’t possess the gift of gab…via paper? Have you found the perfect job opening but don’t currently have a resume that you are proud of? If you answered yes to any of the above questions please continue reading.
This month I had the privilege of working with Maude Stephany, the sole owner and operator of STRONGWORDS Writing Services. Maude (pronounced “mode”—rad I know!), was wanting a logo designed for the branding of her company. She wanted something strong, something that could hold it’s own. Here is what we came up with:
Maude offers the following services:
Editing
ESL Support
Resumes
Writing
Business Writing
Writing Coaching
STRONGWORDS Writing Program
If you are interested in contacting Maude and learning more about what she can do for YOU, her information is listed below. Her website is still being developed, but will be up and running soon enough.
Oh what a small word to describe such an enormous thing (for lack of a better word)!
Our minds are amazing vessels capable of creating, inventing, dreaming and expressing such magical things. Things that need not speak, but to just be. I could share many images and videos with you that inspire me to think lighter and wow harder, but for now I would like to share just one. I came across this video about a year ago and the dedication and patience of this guy blew me away. Not to mention creative genius. So, without further ado, Bang-yao Liu’s “Deadline”:
Isn’t that amazing? Art in motion. I am finding myself at a loss for words when describing the passion behind…my passion. If I could walk the halls of art galleries by day and warm the seats of theaters by night I would. Perhaps throw in a few days of dancing, piano playing, reading and writing and, my friends, we may just have the cherry on top of a blissful sundae.
Speaking of Sundays…(subtle I know)…this Sunday is my photo shoot for my web site! Me and two lovely ladies are getting together to make a long talked about concept a reality and I am very excited! We have been planning this for a few months now and executing our plan is going to feel so good!
I have a few design projects on the go and hope to blog about them soon. But until then please enjoy this montage of deliciousness from our garden. My daughter is quite smitten with her “stawburries”. Enjoy!
Two dear friends of mine, Mike & Leah, welcomed a baby girl into the world last month, Bronwyn Gabrielle Riley. After being married for 12 yrs and having loved a dog and some cats Mike & Leah took the plunge into parenthood.
I am a big fan of motherhood and all that it brings. I love pregnant women, babies, the softest blankets around, toys, mini sleepers/onesies, {don’t even get me started on the shoes}, soothers, teeny tiny diapers, the new baby smell and so much more.
When Leah called me way back when to announce her pregnancy I screamed and hooped and hollered and jumped for joy. I was completely surprised, yet it made perfect sense.
These two will make beautiful parents and will protect their nest very well. Yes, they have been given the gift of Bronwyn, but Bronwyn has been given a gift as well. Her Mommy and Daddy will love her like no one else can and will teach her more than they will ever realize.
I was honoured to design the official announcement for this precious little one.
Welcome to “the blog”! I am so happy that you have found Caged Bird Designs and myself, Heidi Massie. I am the sole owner/operator of this fine ship and I am convinced that it is going to be quite the journey.
Caged Bird Designs has been a labour of love to establish and nurture…similar to mothering my toddler. Except my company cannot reward me with toothy grins and open handed face pats. Shucks.
It took me a long time to settle on a name for my company…and I mean a LONG time. Many sleepless nights and creative brainstorming days. And then BAM, one night at 2am my mind yelled out CAGED BIRD DESIGNS and my body jumped up (in the dark) and blindly wrote it out on the first book I could grab off of my nightstand. The egg had finally hatched, and I am pretty sure I was roosting on it far longer than I will ever know.
More stories and history to come, but for now I will leave you with the above tidbit.
Once again, welcome and stay tuned for the next chapter…
